The main facility of the John Serbu Youth
Campus includes two courtrooms, an administrative office area, housing for 96
and support services such as a kitchen and laundry. The office and court portion
of the facility is a two-story structure constructed with a composite structural
steel system. The housing units and support areas have concrete masonry
structural walls and a steel framed roof.
Architectural features of the building
include a barrel-vaulted roof over the courts and masonry veneer throughout.
The Substance Abuse Treatment and Shelter
Care Facility portion of the project consists of two buildings that are
residential in nature and have relatively low security. The floors are slab on
grade, the walls stud framed, and the roof is a system of glue-laminated beams
and wood I-joists. Concrete masonry is used for walls in the sleeping areas. The
exterior walls have a masonry veneer.
